Book Review: IT’S ALL IN THE PLANETS by PREETI SHENOY

1

Hey Friends! Have you read Itā€™s All In The Planets? Well, I read and I spent literally my entire day reading Preeti Shenoyā€™sĀ  latest novel, ā€œItā€™s All in the Planetsā€. Ā I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I simply like Preeti Shenoy a lot, I cannot ever ignore her books. Its amazing, how beautifully she writes her stories. I always excited to read her books, so when I saw that thereā€™s a new book by Preeti Shenoy, I just clicked on Pre-Order button and very soon I got my copy of the book signed by the author šŸ’– and I was so glad to receive that autographed copy. So I liked the book very much, it is a sweet and simple love story which revolves around 3 main characters Aniket aka Ani, Nidhi and Trisha aka Trish. It is simple tale with full of twists and turns. The title of the book is beautiful and I liked the cover also, its beautiful and romantic…..isnā€™t it? āœØ for a sec it takes you in to a dreamland. āœØ One thing I love about Shenoy is her stories are always themed around female leads, human relationships and their emotions/feelings. I really like her and love to read her books.

Now about the novel, letā€™s start with the title. So, the title gives the full justice to the story. I donā€™t believe in astrology that much but I believe in destiny very much actually, I do believe that everything we think, we want, we do or be in life has root in our Destiny. The narrative of the story is simple and beautiful. Shenoy talks about the modern day relationships and love, and gives a great message that do not compromise ever if you are not happy just say it, take a stand because in any relationship compromises canā€™t bring happiness to any person so do not compromise, respect your feelings and yourself. The plot revolves around Aniket, Trisha, Nidhi and Manoj. Itā€™s a story of love, friendship, hate, cheating and understanding. And I must say Preeti has brought out all the emotions in it so beautifully. šŸ™‚
I loved the characters of Nidhi and her step mom Tara. Both are nice and understanding. Nidhi, is smart, understanding, intelligent, talented, passionate about her work and full of life. She has quit her corporate job and back to India to pursue her passion for “Pottery and Blogging”. She is engaged to Manoj. She thinks Manoj is just ā€œMr. Perfectā€ but later realizes that he is not right person for her and she no longer loves him. Nidhi also maintains a blog called ā€˜A Pot of Clay That Holds Goldā€™ in the meantime. She is so passionate about her ambitions. Ambition to her is something other than just money and a profitable career. Sheā€™s indeed a very powerful and beautiful character and I loved the way she gets a support from her family. I wish all parents be like that towards their children, especially girls. Tara, Nidhiā€™s step mom is an absolute sweetheart who encourages her daughter in every step of life and understands her and loves her. I loved her character. Usually we donā€™t see such a supportive stepmother…right no?

2

Aniket aka Ani, is a male lead character. He is a techie. He has a girlfriend Trisha. He is just so crazy by the beauty of Trisha and that is something quite common in present day relationships and so called love. šŸ˜‚ Trisha aka Trish, is a part time model and basically works at Aniket’s office. Ani loves Trish a lot but Trish doesn’t love him. She has a list of things she wants him to work on especially with his pot belly. Aniket can do anything to be with her. He has a best friend Subbu. Subbu is quite funny, nerd and sweet character. He is truly Aniā€™s best friend. When Ani has any problem, Subbu always cheers him up. He does all his best to make his friend feel better. Heā€™s a true friend who is very supportive. So, one day on a train journey Nidhi meets Aniket by coincidence and Nidhi agrees to be Aniā€™s relationship as well as fitness coach. They become good friends. They help each other with solving their problems. Things change with time and a lot happens with a major twist which we didnā€™t thought. So now, we have 4 characters on this romantic plot. Nidhi and Manoj, Trish and Aniket. So what happens next? Well, Iā€™m not going to tell you further story coz Iā€™m not going to spoil the suspense created by the author in the story, you should read the book for that. šŸ˜‰

Well I found Aniketā€™s character little annoying at some points but I liked his selfless love for Trish and his efforts to recreate the already-dying-relationship with Trish is just beyond words. I liked the climax. Shenoy uses simple words/ language. The writing and language is really nice which is why anyone can relate with her story. She has written the story so beautifully. I liked it. The story talks of selfrespect, selflove and also following your dreams and passions, which should be respected and accepted.ā¤ļø I loved the way Shenoy expresses these emotions in words.

4

All in all, I likedĀ  the book. But I didn’t like when some chapters deal with the same incidents being narrated by both Ani and Nidhi. šŸ˜• Apart from that, it is a nice and romantic story with a good twist and a message. And as I said above I believe in destiny so I agree with authorā€™s message that is conveyed in this book that destiny is something which is prewritten and cannot be changed. Everything that has to happen will happen surely in its own pact when the right time arrives. I strongly agree with this.šŸ˜Š

Some quotes from the book-

ā€œThe longing for you is now a constant companion I carry in my heart. It surrounds me like a cloak and everything that I see is through this filter. It permeates every cell in my body. There is no waking moment that goes by without you on my mind. And if I could control my dreams when I sleep, I would dream only of you.ā€

ā€œYes. We are dealt cards. That is fate. But we do have free will. What we do with the blows that land on us is up to us. We can fight and emerge stronger than before. or we can give up.ā€

3

So its a nice read for me. Decent job done by the author, but she could have done better. But I would say read it once at least. Don’t miss it if you like reading Shenoyā€™s books, but don’t expect too much it is not her best work.

And, Tell me have you read it? I would love to hear it from you. Do let me know if you have read the book or are planning to do so! Do share it with me in the comments below as I would love to know! šŸ™‚

Book Review- Your Dreams are Mine Now by Ravinder Singh

ydamn-1

And Iā€™m back with another book review and this time its Ravinder Singhā€™s Your Dreams Are Mine Now. I ordered it on flipkart.com and got it on time. Ravinder has written 5 novels till date: ā€˜I Too had a Love Storyā€™ (My Favorite) , ā€˜Can Love Happen Twiceā€™, ā€˜Like It Happened Yesterdayā€™ ,ā€˜Your Dreams are Mine Nowā€™ and his latest work ā€œThis Love that Feels Rightā€ and he has also edited ā€˜Love Stories that touched My Heartā€™ and ā€œTell Me a Storyā€. I have read all the works by Ravinder Singh except ā€œLike it happened yesterdayā€. His very first novel ā€œI Too Had A Love Storyā€ as a work will always be his best work in my eyes.:-)Ā  I really love that book a lot. It was truly an pure story with pure emotions of a manā€™s heart. Ravinder Singh is one of my all time favorite writers.

Well, I loved the cover of this bookā€¦its so romantic and beautiful, isnā€™t it? šŸ˜‰ I was so much excited to read it. I always excited to read Ravinder Singhā€™s book because somehow I just relate myself to them or the stories. I still remember when I read his first book I Too Had A Love Story, I was totally connected. I could actually feel the pain, love, emotions & all the things that has written in that book. ā¤ Maybe thatā€™s why I love Singhā€™s books. Your Dreams are Mine Now is a beautifully written teenage love story.Ā  Its a fictional tale which draws inspiration from a real life incident Delhiā€™s Nirbhaya Rape Case that shook the nation by storm a couple of years back. The main characters of this book are Rupali Sinha and Arjun.

Taken with Lumia Selfie

Rupali is a young innocent girl from Patna dreams of getting into college she always wanted to join. So she steps on the ground of DU with her dreams. She is different from Delhi girls. She is not a bit fashionable, her simplicity reflects by her dressing sense. She is intelligent, beautiful, smart and a lovely soul. During one of her first days at college she plants a ā€œTulsiā€ plant in the campus garden. She wants to see the plant grow as a reflection of the growth of her academic life and herself at DU. At the very moment few guys appear in a jeep, they make fun of her and ask her few questions. She got nervous and scared. One of those guysĀ doesn’tĀ speakĀ much. But he is the one she is most scared of and thatā€™s Arjun the male lead character. He is a guy from Delhi who is very active in DU politics and want to make the world a beautiful place. Rupali and Arjun are completely opposite. As time flies Rupali gets to know the inner delicacies of matters in the campus and with that one campus scandal bring Arjun and Rupali together and they fell in love with each other. As they says opposites attract šŸ˜‰ They are passionately in love but then what happens to their love story and their political future is the cruel part of the book. The climax of this book is so painful. I cried a lot at the end maybe because whenever I read a book I want to relate myself with the characters and every time it made me cry at some points. šŸ˜¦

I liked this novel. The characters are well developed. The language is easy, the cover and title is quite interesting. Itā€™s a well written book. The language os this book is so simple and it is really an easy and nice read. But if you are expecting something new or innovative in this tale then sorry! Iā€™m sure you will be disappointed. Yes, it is similar to Nirbhayaā€™s case after all every novel is inspired by a true story, right?Ā  When you read this book you will think that you just completed reading a summary reports of the incident that happened back then. Most of the pages are seem to copied from newspapers and articles on this case. But anyways, I love 3 things in this novel, one is there were no sex scenes in this book. Apart from some kiss scenes and another romantic conversation part. Thankfully Ravin did not create this awkwardness in the book. Second thing is the love confession of Rupali in the simplest way and Arjunā€™s emotions conveyed through the line ā€˜Your dreams are mine nowā€™ and the New Year Eveā€™s love pendant incident and their conversation, oh that beautiful part! šŸ™‚ ā¤

Taken with Lumia Selfie

Some interesting quotes:

1. ā€œStand for what is right and do not let evil persist.ā€

2. ā€œThe present! Itā€™s so different from the past. The past! It will never come back. Never ever!ā€

3. ā€œBetrayal hurts the most when it comes from the one who you always remembered in your prayers.ā€

4. ā€œSometimes the problem with silence is that the more it continues to prevail, the more awkward it becomes.ā€

5. When dreams take shape, sleep runs away.ā€

6. ā€œBeing brave doesn’t mean the lack of fear.It means overcoming your fears.

Taken with Lumia Selfie

All in all itā€™s a nice read. I love the way Ravinder writes his novel. Your Dreams are Mine Now will make you cry, laugh and happy. Some pages of the book seems boring but the suspense makes you engross to read the entire book. The beautiful love story of Arjun and Rupali will touch your heart. Itā€™s a lovely book and I enjoyed it with my ā€œBritannia little hearts biscuitsā€ šŸ˜› I love these biscuits šŸ˜€ It really reminds me of my childhood šŸ™‚

Well, This story touched my heart and shook my soul and I hope it does the same for you too when youā€™ll read it. I did not like the end. As I mentioned the end left me in tears, I personally think the character of Rupali shouldn’t have died not at least like this. It was so upsetting. Its a good story but it could be an excellent one if in the end both lovers were united. But I guess everyone should read it once, itā€™s a well written book. So donā€™t think much just go for it! šŸ˜‰

My Views

I’m unhappy with the #Verdict. Salman is innocent….#IStandWithSalmanKhan

Salman Khan was sentenced to five years in jail for 2002 ā€œHit-and-Runā€ case. As the actor was to be taken to prison, the Bombay High Court gave him a two-day respite in the form of interim bail.

CEUtouOVEAAAlow

He is a Superstar, a great human being, a wonderful actor, he is the one & only ā€œMr. Salman Khanā€. I love him not only because Iā€™m his fan but because of his goodness. Yesterday, I was in tears when I saw this news on TV. I am totally unhappy and sad with the court verdict. Salman in jail for 5yrs, Oh God!!! šŸ˜„ I cannot digest this sentence itselfā€¦.believing it is impossible!!! šŸ˜¦ Let me tell you first that Salman never shy away from his mistakes, he always face it and it was an accident, plus he was not driving but when you are a celebrity you have to pay a big price. Salman was not driving but when his car have an accident and footpath people know that its Salman Khan, they said that salman was driving. Yes a person was killed in this accident but has the government still do something for these people sleeping on the footpath??? The answer is NO.

We all know, everyone has imperfections and no one is perfect but if you have guts to confront your problems and deal with it like it should then will let tomorrow speaks for himself. India has a big Bollywood industry, where actors and actresses do lots of charity but do you surely know, where are the money going exactly??? Where are those activists working for vulnerable people to shape the life of poor people??? Where are they??? We are in world where internet, whatsapp, facebook, twitter and where everything is moving fast and dynamic, still they can’t help people sleeping on the road/footpath. This is a SHAME!!!! šŸ˜– There are rapist, murders, criminals in any form why not taking damn final judgement for them too??? Well some are focusing because it is SALMAN KHAN and nothing else. But BRAVO to the actor, he run a charity and help truly people who needs it, when the government should have done all this.

CEYmvrAUEAEqjiZ

CEY_xGEUEAAR_H4

The people who are injured said they want compensation and give a damn about the court verdict. These are people who are always in need before and after the accident precisely. I donā€™t know whatā€™s right or wrong? Whatā€™s good or bad? All I know is, For me Salman is not guilty, he is innocent and is always fair. Iā€™m supporting him and will always support him. He is not guilty!!! The truth is, those who showing sympathy to victims & calling it justice, I bet they don’t care if someone murders someone in front of them. There are people who has hit and run cases and killed 6 or more people and they suffered only 2 years while only one person was killed which is still sad yet salman get 5 years jail?? Disgusting!!! šŸ˜– Iā€™m saying this not because Iā€™m his fan but I know he is a good man. If Salman really want to go away with this case he has his contacts. But he faces the consequences no matter what. This is Salman Khan! šŸ™‚ I admire his work, his kindness. He is real, genuine and loyal. Yes, I love his acting, his smile but mostly I love him as a human being. He is great! A man with golden heart and as an actor he is in his best. I cannot imagine any other actor taking his position. It is Salman and the love of his fans that make his movies cross most of the times the 100cr mark.

Last night, I saw an old interview of salman on TV. I really think he’s being targeted for who he is! Go watch it, he always said he wasn’t driving the car and now his driver admits and the judge completely ignored his side of the story. This is clearly injustice. Just because he’s famous you sentence him for five years? What about rapists that are moving freely? Well, I will always support and love him. He is amazing, no one cannot ever become like him, god made him & broke the mould. šŸ™‚ He is real, and he does what he believes, he has saved the lives of many people. Whatever happened that night, was just a mistake. It was an accident. He is not a criminal. And no matter what I will always love him and will support him šŸ™‚ and Iā€™m very happy for Salman that he got the bail for 2 days. šŸ™‚ Finally, a bit relief for him, his family and fans. He is the man who stands for everyone always and now I stand for him.Ā  šŸ™‚

CEWilidUkAA2E0m

This is really shame, some celebrities earn and donā€™t donate but Salman donates most of what he earns (I think, 60%) and still this judgementā€¦.very bad! šŸ˜„ Salman is not guilty and please don’t always think of religion, for god’s sake GROW UP! Iā€™m still little upset and sad for him, and now all I can say is Iā€™m supporting him and will always support him. He is just the BEST. We love you salman, I hope all will be fine. #IStandWithSalmanKhan #ISupportSalmanKhan

My Views

My Views on Deepika Padukone’s #MyChoice Video.

Have you guys seen Deepika Padukone’s #MyChoice video? I watched it and honestly, I didnā€™t like it. There are so many objectionable things in the video and I think, the video was simply degrading the image of women. I don’t support Deepika this time. I mean by creating this video they are making a woman look weak while we are not. I do not understand what message they want to convey? feminism is not about making the same mistakes as men and justifying it as our choice, we donā€™t need special attention and we donā€™t need a video saying women should be treated differently, what we actually want is a video that talks about how both men and women need to be treated equally! Sometimes overthinking is the big cause of unhappiness, so please donā€™t create issues, donā€™t make life more difficult for women or I would say for middle class and rural women, respect both WOMEN & MEN weā€™re two sides of coin but incomplete without each other.

I read somewhere that it is made for rural people, well I donā€™t think so… because if it is so then why is it in English? it would have been made in Hindi no? so the thoughts can change the mindset of rural peopleā€¦..right no? I think, most Indians do not understrand English properly, then how will they understand the message? And by showing your erotic images in the video youā€™re talking about women empowerment and womenā€™s condition in rural areas, seriously? I am shocked! Miss Deepika Padukone, do you even know, what is the condition of women in rural areas? Try and bother yourself to go in a Indian villages to find out the hard hitting reality, the ordeal of the women in the rural India is unbearable. Anyway, Women Empowerment means equality between the two, it doesn’t mean one is superior to the other and this video and your message is totally nonsense. I hope our young generation doesn’t take it seriously, its just a marketing gimmick. There are far more concerning issues about women’s rights than this. And one sec, just look whoā€™s talking I mean, someone who has lambasted Ranbir Kapoor in public should better keep her mouth shut about her own CHOICE.

(Left) Deepika Padukone and Saina Nehwal (Right)
(Left) Deepika Padukone and Saina Nehwal (Right)

By the way, have you guys heard about Saina Nehwal? She is also a Indian girl, and now she is worldā€™s #1 badminton player. I mean, how I admire her, she is a role model for me. And she should be Indiaā€™s role model, I would like sons of India to be LIKE her. All India’s children to have skills like her. She is the best and She doesnā€™t need to make a video to say #MyChoice. She LIVES her choice. SALUTE YOU SAINA! Now see, one side we have Deepika and other side Saina, they both are women, both are in professions that are highly competitive and both face fame, critisism, love, fear, anxiety, insecurities and etc. Both have choices and here is what they choose to do with it. Saina made us and our country proud. And yes! I choose Saina Nehwal as my role model for empowering women because she walks the talk. By becoming the FIRST INDIAN WOMAN to be ranked No.1 in badminton in the WORLD, Saina has trashed a lot of naysayers. I can’t even estimate the pressure this 25 year old bears while she fights her way to the top, quashing the so far informidable Chinese and instead of wearing make up and crying in front of the camera about her insecurities, she remained determined, focused and committed to her passion and see where it has brought her. šŸ™‚ After losing the world cup 2015, we were all very disappointed but so what if 11 men couldn’t bring home the cricket honors? See what a young determined WOMAN is capable of? Well, I have nothing against Deepika, I love her acting and beauty but yes for this video, NOā€¦I AM SORRY!!!! I know, She is a public figure but according to me, what she signs up for under the banner of “women empowerment” should be well thought of and planned. Her video was more about making choices according to her whims. Oh god! How can women be empowered by that??

Anyways, this was my opinion on Deepikaā€™s #MyChoice. I eagerly want to know your opinionā€¦..so want to share? šŸ™‚
